A little bit weird, a little bit political with a lot of humor.

It is a sad day for me... because after learning the Beck is a member of the cult/church of Scientology, I can't respect him anymore. It has cast a shadow on his career for me now, and there are probably people reading this that can't understand why his "faith" would change the way I feel about him as a performer and such. I mean, I can basically accept a lot from a performer, an actor and not judge them, but it is this one thing that I can't get past. There is just something about the gro...

Ol' Dirty Bastard AKA Dirt McGirt AKA Big Baby Jesus AKA Russell Jones, his real name died on Saturday after complaining of chest pains while at a studio in NY. He had recently gotten out of prison, and he was at work on his new album, a project he had been working on for a year. Personally, I loved "Baby I got your money," and I was sort of surprised to see that he had died, because he was keeping sort of a low profile as of late. I know he had problems, and he was... sort of erratic, bu...

After seeing another blogger's list of the 100 greatest videos ever... well, it got me to thinking about some of the videos that I thought were great, and don't often appear on lists... now, I am not talking about the Windowlickers, Rabbits in the Headlights and Buddy Hollies out there.... I am talking about some videos that didn't get that much air play, or were sequestered to certain shows or are largely forgotten when people think about modern videos. Madvillain- ALL CAPS : This ...

A friend of mine sent me this weird music file a few weeks ago of a band playing a Countrified Radiohead medley... and I listened to it once or twice then.... and then I listened to it again last night, and now I can't stop. If you like country or Radiohead, you should check it out too... its worth it, I swear. It boggles my mind that someone would actually do this, but the depressing nature of both country/western music and Radiohead just goes so well together....

We live in a society where doctors and lawyers along with a lot of other professions need to be licenced to perform their work, and with the recent rash of lip synching incidents, now seems like as good a time as any to implement a new system for dealing with these egregious performance frauds, and I think I have come up with a very workable and entertaining solution. People who want to have a career singing in concert will have to perform Karaoke on television at least twice a year to obt...

Well, I was one of the first people here to really lay into Ashlee Simpson after the SNL incident , and I was expecting her to fail.... fail on so many levels tonight and the Radio Music Awards. I mean, she had to really "face the music" if you catch my drift. Her credibility was seriously on the line, and she needed to be live to regain any of it back. When she first got on stage, her and her band made fun of the infamous song starting fiasco by recreated before she starting singing.......

I was talking to one of my friends tonight during the SNL broadcast, and she told me to turn it on quick because apparently Ashlee Simpson walked off the stage because her mike didn't work, so I flipped it on, but I had missed the walk off... it was at the commercials... but she had caught it on TiVo. So she went back and watched the incidents that happened before Ashlee walked off. She was dancing and all happy away from mike, and the band started playing Autobiography.... and all of a su...

Joan of Arc, Dick Cheney, Mark Twain . Perhaps the weirdest album title I'll see all year. I mean, they have a song on the album called "The Title Track of This Album". Meant to be funny. Who can say? Joan of Arc ... are you trying to mess with me over here... seriously , you're trying to punk me with that title, right? I'm not saying I don't like what you do as musicians... but sometimes... you are a bit strange... then again, after In Rape Fantasy and Terror Sex We Trust , I sh...

I was at epitonic.com last night, and Ikept seeing ads for Loretta Lynn's Van Lear Rose , and seeing as epitonicis more an indie/electronic site, I had to see why they would advertise LorettaLynn of all people to such an audience. So I clicked the link, and was left stupefied. A player pop-up at the site, and it started playing the title track of thealbum, and it didn't sound like the country legend I had been familiar with as achild, not the sound I was expecting from a Coal Miner's Da...

Oh, we all have them... those songs we know we just shouldn't like, butsomething inside us just makes it so irresistible. Songs with bad lyrics or oddinstrumentation, or from an artist that is tacky... or you love heavy metal butdeep down, you just need to hear Debbie Boone belt out "You Light Up MyLife" when no one is home. Or you like jazz and reggae, but the theme songfrom Footloose just gets you going too.  Come on, I know you want to confess. It'll be ok... there will...
