A Word of Warning* If you haven'twatched Joe Schmo 2 , and you plan on seeing it in the near future, Iadvise you that there are SPOILERS here! “Jackpot!” It was a single word, but the moment it was spoken, a whole series became worththe production costs. It was also just the sort of reaction the producers of JoeSchmo 2 had wanted from Tim, one of their unwitting contestants. With ahalf-smile on his face, he managed to nullify the fears of the whole staff ofthe show, fears that h...

In the summer of 2000, after 5 years of development, Kevin Smith's animated spinoff of his first film, Clerks , premiered on ABC.... and lasted two out-of sequence episodes... and I loved it then. Of course, for most tv series, that would have been the end.... they would have been merely a speck of roadkill on the side of the network superhighway, but for Kevin Smith... after so much investment... it couldn't be the end. In late 2001, he released the 6 existing episodes of the show on vid...

Once upon a time SpikeTV filmed a short-run reality series.... one which did not make it to their fall schedule... and was thought to have been lost to vagaries of cable-tv scheduing.... and then its celebrity star passed away under strange circumstances... wonder what will become of that series now... hmmm... why do I suddenly hear the sound of a cash registers? Ok, basically, here is the skinny on this series that SpikeTV created: a contestant had to stay within 10 feet of ODB over a ser...

They say confession is good for the soul, and at this point, I could use as much cleansing for my soul as I can get, so here goes. I am a recovering soap addict... and I was over 3000 days clean of the addiction until last summer when I started seeing previews for this little show that Fox was going to be rolling out called the O.C. .... and I thought I recognized one of the actresses from this movie called Lawn Dogs with Sam Rockwell, and I had to find out if it was the same gal (whic...

As has been reported by both me and a lot of other media sources earlier, CBS/60 Minutes just happened to be at the SNL set the week of the Ashlee Simpson lip synching gaffe, and in the aftermath of the incident, Leslie Stahl interviewed the force behind Saturday Night Live, Lorne Michaels. After some rather jovial questions about the history of the show, and how he was perceived by some who had left the show, he was asked the questions we all wanted to know about. First he was asked ...

I was just watching Eminem perform Mosh on SNL.... and it sounded WAY too close to the video version. I mean, it was almost exactly the same as what was on the video, and at one point I could have sworn he pulled the mike away from his mouth, and he was still singing(it might have been his own backing vocal though). I can't prove it conclusively, but it looked like he was. The irony is that SNL has been really ripping into Ashlee Simpson all show.... and if he did lip synch, well, it makes...

This should come as a surprise to no one that saw the traffic jam mess the networks created on Thursdays at 8PM. Faced with Survivor, Everybody Hates Chris, The O.C. and Joey, this cult favorite which was picking up steam with its Lost lead in suddenly found itself without an audience. So, ABC, in its infinite wisdom, has decided to move Alias to a post-Lost slot for a few weeks before finding another place for it and then cancelling the series in May. We all knew this was coming. ABC put...

So, for the fans of the Family Guy out there, how did you like the new season? Do you think that the new environment at the FCC is going ot have a detrimental effect on the show? Personally, I rather enjoyed the first episode(especially the opening), but it did seem to be a little uneven as well... hopefully it will seem less so as the weeks go by. And given that Fox is looking more for DVD sales from the series than raw ratings(being up against Desperate Housewifes at the moment, ...

I am surprised I have to write this entry, but I just had to say it. As a fan of Family Guy, I was heartily disappointed by the premiere of American Dad. To me, it just didn't feel right... the timing and pace of the show had a lot to be desired. I know that Seth MacFarlane had given me high expectations, and I was prepared for a show that at first wouldn't dazzle me in comparison, but I was not expecting to feel so let down. Even when compared with the second show of another famous creato...

I was just watching the first season of Alias on DVD, and a few things struck me. In the beginning, the show was a lot more tightly plotted, and it felt a lot more taut... maybe it was because it was all new, and it hadn't hit its stride and found almost all the convenient buttons to push.... or maybe its because the stories were swinging closer to James Bond than All My Children at the time. There were cliffhangers, which are sorely lacking in some of the later episodes(and outside of mo...
