How could the British public be so wrong!
According to a poll by DVD rental firm ScreenSelect.co.uk, the 10 worst remakes were:
1) Get Carter
2) Psycho
3) Thunderbirds
4) La Femme Nikita(Point of No Return)
5) Charlie's Angels
6) Alfie
7) Planet of the Apes
8) Starsky and Hutch
9) Cape Fear
10) Oceans Eleven.
Which makes me wonder what these people were thinking... I mean, yes, there are some HORRIFIC movies in that list, but there have been much, much worse remakes than Cape Fear and Ocean's Eleven(which I enjoy).... like Shaft for instance. Don't get me wrong, I really like Samuel L. Jackson's work, but Shaft... that's a cultural institution he sullied!
What about the Italian Job? That was a steaming pile of crap... or Lost in Space... did the viewing public have to be subjected to that? Then there were the forgettable ones... like Car 54, Where are you?, the In-Laws and the Out of Towners... which thankfully, a lot of people were able to miss.
But I think the worst remake/re-envisioning of a movie has to be the Devlin/Emmerich fiasco Godzilla... in which they both sullied both Jean Reno and a giant nuclear lizard in a 2 hour span. This crime was so great that I can think of no more fitting punishment than to stick Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich in a cell for 2 years and force them to watch this movie over and over so they understand the collective pain they caused the world.
So what were the worst remakes YOU have ever seen?
