A little bit weird, a little bit political with a lot of humor.
That's like an article a day.... WHOA!

As with a lot of television shows, you eventually have to have a clip show... and in the blogging business, well, there aren't really clip shows. But, since this was my 100th article, I thought that format might be worth a shot. I mean, it is my blog, and I have a clip show if I want to.... hehe. But I think a better word for it is a "retrospective" because that sounds just so much... classier and sophisticated, and let's face it , this blog could you a shot of both of those qualities.

I admit, I written some weird articles in the past(like the one about wrestling ad icons or the international incident caused by an overflowing toilet at a customs station), and in the beginning, I did have a tendency to mine the "odd news" sections a bit too heavily for material, but admitting that is the first step to recovery and I got a bit better material to work with.

I tried my hand at posting art, (which didn't last long), posting a column(which lasted 5 weeks), and thought about trying another one where I taught poetic forms.

Politically, while I am liberal, I tried to find the humor and stories that went hit on both sides of the spectrum. In fact, two of my top 5 articles are heavily weighed towards the right. I don't claim to be fair and balanced or not to have a bias... but I do find both sides of the spectrum interesting to talk about. I wonder if that is the reason why people don't really attack me vehemently(it could be that I fly under a lot of people's radars, but who knows). I wonder if I will run out of political material after the election. I guess I'll have to wait and see.

Rest assured, there will be lot of material from me in the next few months because my well is as full as ever. Of what though... that is a question best left unanswered. But in looking back, I did notice I had a few articles which didn't get the exposure and readship I had hoped for, and I just thought this would be as good a time as any to bring them back up so those that might have been interested in them might have a chance to find them again.

Institutional Bias: the times have indeed changed - A response to something Greywar wrote in which I told of my personal experiences with Bias in the university system.

When is a draw or loss really a victory - An article where I examine a few instances in history and in hypotheticals where attaining a draw or losing may be counted as a victory nonetheless.

How did 'The Left' become associated with left? - I examine the roots and language behind "right" and "left" and discover that historically, "the left" has always had negative connotations.

EA's NHL 2005 being used professionally to simulate season - I take a glance at how far computer technologies have come over the past few years.

What the internet used to be like - My thoughts about how the internet differed now from how it was portrayed on a mid-90's documentary show.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who I've met through blogging, but I would especially like to thank (off the top of my head)

Texas Wahine, my enabler and awesome mother/Simpsons fan
Ravenblack, who was one of the first people who was a regular follower of my blog, and someone who loves games as much as I do, if not more so.
Gideon, who also gave me a lot of encouragement in the beginning, and taught me so much from reading his own prolific work.
Angloesque, who has always had something interesting and insightful to say, and as a fellow writer, she seen a lot of the same kinds of things I have.

and of course,

Draginol(Brad), for making this venue available for all of us to use and for being tolerant of a lot of differing views.

If I forgot to list you(and there are probably a few people I have).... I apologize and if I remember sometime in the short, near future, well, I will add you to the list above.

Thanks to everyone for reading and making this such an enjoyable experience.... and let's hope 200 articles isn't too far off!

and let's hope 200 articles isn't too far off!

Hopefully it won't be, although I've slowed down quite considerably after my century, took me fewer than 100 days to write 100 articles, but it's been over 6 months since then and I haven't reached 200 yet. Beware of the writer fatigue syndrome that most of us regular bloggers seem to experience.

That aside, congrats on your 100, well done and I wish you all the best and plenty of ideas for your second 100 Keep up the good work

I just have to look at this as 1 article at a time. I mean, trying to reach 200 too fast would just burn me out.

I did experience some fatigue in early october... a slump if you will... but I came out swinging from that and wrote 25 articles in the past 10 days... I know I can't keep that kind of production up.... but it was invigorating to do it.

Thanks for your support

Congrats, history! (or should I say, "Britannica Bear?")

I'm sure you know I think you're great. I love your stuff and I adore your sense of humor. Long may you blog!

Thanks for the "shout out," BTW.

Thanks Texas... I love your work too. Thinking about it, I think it was something about drunken bears and Homer Simpson that got us a-chatting....

I give a lot of shoutouts... if someone inspired me to write an article, I usually link to their blog and article... that's the beauty of HTML based linking...

I hope your blog lasts a long long time too
on Oct 29, 2004
Congratulations on your milestone. You reached it much more quickly than I did (I was real hit and miss at the beginning), and wrote some very good stuff while doing it. Glad you are around.

Funny how things like that work, isn't it?

I love your work too.

Thanks. I'm surprised people actually read it sometimes because it's usually about boring stuff or my family. I'm glad you read and comment, though. You've always got something kind (or hilarious!) to say.

That's awesome. I need to do that more. I did get a handle on the writing over my links thing. I appreciate yours and chip's and BlueDev's help with that.

I hope your blog lasts a long long time too

Thanks.

Now . . . complete this one . . . "If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, . . . ."

"If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, . . . ."

Then... um... how does the rest of that go?
Congratulations on your milestone. You reached it much more quickly than I did (I was real hit and miss at the beginning), and wrote some very good stuff while doing it. Glad you are around.

You've recently become a rather regular reader/commenter as of late, and I really appreciate that BlueDev. You've had such interesting things to say. It gave me the opportunity to catch up on your own blog too. Thanks for the encouragement.

Shopkeeper: Take this object, but beware: it carries a terrible curse!
Homer: Oooh, that's bad.
Shopkeeper: But it comes with a free Frogurt!
Homer: That's good!
Shopkeeper: The Frogurt is also cursed.
Homer: That's bad.
Shopkeeper: But you get your choice of toppings!
Homer: That's good!
Shopkeeper: The toppings contain potassium benzoate.
[Homer looks puzzled.]
Shopkeeper: That's bad.
Homer: Can I go now?

I love that one . . . I have it on our Simpsons Halloween DVD. I missed the Halloween episode this year because I was at the airport. Was it any good?
on Oct 29, 2004
It isn't on until Nov. 7th....
on Oct 29, 2004
Sweet! So, what did I miss on the first Sunday of this month? It was a new one, wasn't it?

Also . . . WTF? Why do they show it after Halloween?

Because of baseball.....
on Oct 29, 2004
D'oh! I hate baseball.

This is one of those times where I am just now realizing that someone appreciated my thoughts. Thanks.

Happy 100. I'm one of those geezers who let the big one-uh-oh go by without realizing it. *sigh* So hard to get old.

Cheers.
