A little bit weird, a little bit political with a lot of humor.
Attention people who like to develop their own playbooks for Madden... 06 is not the game for you. None of the reviews for the game(at least those I have read) mention the fact that EA changed the way that Custom Playbooks are implemented(even those that are put together from existing playbooks), so they are unavailable for any mode other than "Play Now" and "Practice", making the feature basically worthless.

Now, on one of the forums I go to, someone wrote EA a letter about the change, and the representative had this to say:

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us here at Electronic Arts Technical Support. I asked around about this and the best answer I got was this. When yopu play against the computer it doesn't matter if you have the best set of players and the most innovative play making in the world because its like playing against an inanimate object or playing against yourself. But when you play against people the no custom playbook rule levels the field and doesn't give an unfair advantage to anybody. At least that's the explanation I got. Perhaps you could post this question at EA.com so the game developer and planners can notice this and do something about it. Should you require further assistance about this or any Electronic Arts games in the future please visit our website and review our extensive Self Help knowledgebase http://support.ea.com.

Please email us about any significant change or development with your issue.
Thank you for choosing EA Games!

Now, that really doesn't explain anything, because if that was the thinking, then custom playbooks should still be available for all single player activities then... like Franchise and Tournament modes. I can see them not having them for online play, but the current implementation is just horrible.

Basically, if you like custom playbooks in your Madden game experience, stay with what you have. You have been forewarned.
